Excellent wok
What can I say, it's a wok. No more, no less. Solid feel, probably 12 gauge steel. Welded handles. Looks like it will outlive me without any question. I seasoned it in the oven and then use a Big Kahuna outdoor propane burner. I'm still learning but have made a half dozen reasonably good stirfrys and used it also to sear meats for other dishes that would have taken too long on my regular cooktop. My only complaint is not about the wok itself but that the wok "ring" on the Big Kahuna is really just six fingers which do hold the wok but don't give you great confidence. The wok is fairly heavy especially when cooking for as many people as one would use this size wok. It needs a solid base and ring to give you the confidence to cook with two implements rather than holding on with one hand. Again, I need to make clear that is not a problem with the wok itself (I welded a ring the the six fingered supports on the Big Kahuna and now it is solid). Bottom line:excellent wok to cook for...
Works beautifully!
If you have a higher output gas stove such as the Wolf or Viking, this will be perfect for serious stir frying. Buy a 18" lid as well. This size is perfect because you can make high quality stir fry dishes that are resturant quality. I use this almost everyday for two. Itll be good for a normal sized family, you would not want a smaller wok if you can afford the space. I have a 22" for larger parties. In order to get the restuanrant char, you have to have a good quqlity and large enough wok so that food stays very hot while you are stirring along with the help of the high gas output. It seasoned beautifully and became nonstick and washes easily in no time. Only trick is, this is larger than many sinks. Need to have the clearance to wash it along with a commitment for storage space.
